And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers” Acts 2:42. Let us not be weary of coming together, as is the habit of some but let us encourage one another, and all the more, as we see the day approaching. Heb. 10:25.

INTRODUCTION:- Corporate Worship or Fellowships is Necessary to keep the Fire of God Burning in our lives: We enjoy spiritual warmth when we fellowship with believers. The scripture encourages believers to worship together and not forsake the assembly of one another as is the habit of some people. When believers come together in worship, there are peculiar benefits that are not found in many other gatherings, such as clubs, old students or community togetherness. A group of Christian young men were on an overnight camping trip in a town. Because of scarcity of dry firewood, they decided to extinguish their camp fire after the evening meal. They planned to use the same firewood for cooking breakfast the following morning. The problems was how to put the fire out and keep the wood dry.

One of the boys thought of a simple solution. Taking a long stick, he removed the logs one by one from the fire and spread them a few inches apart. Almost immediately the flames ceased and by nightfall even the red embers had turned black and cool. The same logs were gathered the next day and once more, they were made to burn brightly when piled together. One of the young men observed: “That fire reminds me of the church, when we stay apart, our spiritual fire dies out, We need each other if we are to burn bright for Jesus.”

A. The Holy Spirit Descends more often in corporate Worship: The Holy Spirit finds it more convenient to descend on a group of believers rather than in private worship. The promise of the Holy Spirit was given to the church corporately. (Acts 1:4). The Disciples of Christ experienced the coming down of the Holy Spirit corporately. (Acts 2:1-4, 4:31, 10:44)

B. Corporate Worship Helps Believers to identify their Gifts: Acts 13:1 reveals that believers in the Antioch church were endowed with teachers and prophets. These are ministry gifts identified only in corporate worship. Without the church platform/place of worship to minister, there will not be teachers and prophets.

C. Corporate Worship Provides Opportunities for Believers to use their Gifts. In Acts 13:2, as believers were worshiping, the Holy Spirit ministered through a prophet to set apart Barnabas and Saul for the work they had been called for, Both the prophets and the people set apart received their commission in the corporate worship.

D. Corporate Worship gives Meaning to one’s Life: Public worship keeps one busy in the special task God has given to one. It helps one to use his/her time and talents profitably and to the glory of God.
Dear beloved, it is the tactics of the devil to keep people away from church fellowship. Peter and John were faithful to corporate worship and God used them for His own glory. God can use you beyond imagination and measure as you heed the call to come for corporate worship.
